Please join us for this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, June 17th at 5:30pm in the Fernwood Inn. The AGM is a time for us to reflect back on the past year’s activity, and to look to the future of our association. Everyone is encouraged to attend, and appetizers will be provided. Attendees can provide comments on the last year’s events, suggest new ideas and support the continuing evolvement and growth of our chapter.

The AGM is also the time when we choose new members of the board for their upcoming terms. Each year we choose the following:

• a new president - someone to lead the chapter board (1 year term)
• last year’s president automatically becomes the past president (1 year term)
• a president-elect – someone who will become president next year (1 year term)
• a secretary (3 year term)
• a treasurer (3 year term)
• a webmaster – someone to post articles and announcements to the site (1 year term)
• a program planner – someone to coordinate program planning activities (1 year term)
• a writer – someone to help write and coordinate the development of materials created and published by the chapter (1 year term)
• a marketing coordinator – someone to help us with membership recruitment as well as advertisement for our events (1 year term)
• members at large – persons who sit on the board, but do not have specific roles (1 year term)

Being a member of the board has varying time commitments depending on the role that you take on. The board usually meets once a month for approximately two hours. At times of planning major events, such as the joint conference with AABC, there are some additional meetings, but we do our best to accommodate personal lives, and to keep the meetings lively and entertaining (we have been known to convene in a pub…).

The majority of the current board is retiring and so we need to recruit new members to help run the association. A small handful of people cannot run the board alone, so please join us for our AGM in June and consider joining. If you have any questions about what is involved in being a board member, or if you have a skill set that you think may be of some use, please speak to any of the current board members (see below).
